About Alex
I am a graduate student studying Data Science, and have a Bachelor's in Biomedical Engineering. I have tutored my peers at the college and high school level, and my younger brother at the middle school level. At a practical level I have used my skills in math and science to develop medical device prototypes, perform computer vision research for Volkswagen, and create a database for a group at Northwestern University. I understand the importance of getting good grades and getting into top schools, but more importantly developing a strong work ethic and pride in one's work.

I explain things thoroughly, really listen to the difficulties students are having, and come up with creative strategies to help students learn. Doing as many practice problems as possible and thinking of real life applications for a given subject/topic has always helped me and anyone I've taught. I think a lot of teachers and programs fail to adequately prepare students for exams - both standardized and in-class. For myself and others I have taught, I usually come up with exams that match what will be asked and practice with those and any other available resources. Last year, I tutored my younger brother who has always struggled with math. Through patience and consistency, we were able to take his standardized scores in math from 4th percentile to 97th percentile. It's all about practice.
