About Melissa
Hi, my name is Melissa. I recently retired after teaching Special Education for 25 years in the public school setting. My undergraduate degree is in Special Education and my graduate studies are in Behavioral Disorders. I am certified to teach K to 12th grade. I am certified in Varying Exceptionalities- meaning all disabilities. I have worked with students who hold labels such as: mentally handicapped, cognitively challenged, learning disabled, Autism Spectrum: Asperger's Syndrome, ADHD, ADD, OCD, ODD, emotionally handicapped, severely emotionally disturbed and OHI (health impairments such as physical illnesses/handicaps .

Whether your child is a visual learner or auditory learner we can make an educational treatment plan so that your child meets his/her short term objectives and long term goals. I utilize a plethora of eclectic research-based learning strategies such as multi-sensory instruction and meta- cognitive strategies. I guarantee that your child will increase his/her academic and or social/emotional/behavioral skills. I will be happy to teach your child self- advocacy skills and go over your students schools Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) if you desire.
