About Erin
My name is Erin, I am a photographer, artist and teacher originally from New Zealand. After studying Professional Photography in Christchurch I initiated my career in fashion photography between Melbourne and New York City, subsequently moving on to Mexico City where I was based as a documentary and editorial photographer for 5 years. I spent the last 6 months working on a documentary project across the Maghreb countries of Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia. I have now returned to Melbourne with over ten years experience in the photography and production industries, and six years experience in photographic education.

I began teaching photography while I was living in Mexico City and held positions in two of the country’s most respected photographic institutions. Giving classes and courses on technical aspects such as lighting and software, and also artistic aspects like story telling and personal style. Working with children and adults alike from all different backgrounds, I can transmit my passion for photography; guiding students to truly develop their own style and move forward in relevant ways.
Part of what I appreciate most about teaching photography is that I always learn as well, I enjoy the process of preparing the classes; researching resources, readings and finding inspiration to present and I always make an effort to search for inspiration specific to each student. Aiming to make my classes interactive and stimulating, inspiring ambition and creation!
I also believe that for students to strive they must feel safe to express their ideas with the confidence to take risks, feel challenged and excited to try new things. Creating such an environment promotes positivity and inclusivity for all.
