About Martha
As an award-winning teacher with over a decade of experience in education, I have worked with students across various grade levels to support building skills in reading and writing. As a former teacher coach, I supported other teachers to create engaging materials and effectively incorporate research-based practices into their teaching. Additionally, as a PhD candidate, I have worked with students learning to become teachers to build skills around best practices in teaching.
I specialize in culturally-appropriate pedagogy and supporting neurodivergent students.

As a student-centered instructor, I build individual and small group lessons that prioritize hands-on learning and discussion.
My lessons usually include: practice reading and annotating passages together, small group or 1:1 discussions of topics, writing practice with individualized feedback. For exam preparation, I help students analyze options in order to learn the patterns in question types and learn important test-taking skills.
My lessons are for middle and high school students who would benefit from individualized support in reading or literary analysis. I have experience working with students from grades 6-12 and am trained in teaching AP Literature.
