About Elizabeth
I have provided tuition, in various manners, for approximately seven years. During this time, I have worked with students with varying levels of need and ability and have helped them to raise their reading ages vastly and make fast and substantial progress in their understanding of English and application of literacy skills.
I have previously worked as both an English Coach and Literacy Coach at two secondary schools. In these roles, I provided intensive tuition for students who needed to make rapid progress. I also delivered GCSE content and have taught a wide variety of GCSE set texts. In these roles, I have worked with students with special educational needs and with those for whom English is an additional language.
I am a graduate of a Russell Group university and achieved a 2:1 in English. Whilst in employment, I have engaged in various forms of training, particularly focussed on coaching and how to deliver learning to students with various needs. I have also completed training with nationally recognised provider Ruth Miskin, centred on helping children learn to read fluently.
On top of my subject based training, I have also received safeguarding in education training and I am DBS checked.

I provide English and Literacy tuition for students up to GCSE level.
At primary level, I cover: reading for expression, reading for comprehension, spelling and phonetics and punctuation and grammar.
At secondary level, I cover the above and, in addition: understanding and analysing texts, paragraph writing and essay structure, and creative writing.
My intentions as a tutor are to support students in making the most of their English education and supplement their existing education, with a view to enhancing functional English skills and to instil an appreciation for Literature. With this in mind, I value regular feedback about sessions and aim to keep their structure as simple as possible, focussing on learning and revision.
As a tutor, I am driven, friendly, and attentive, and always aim to maintain regular contact with tutees and guardians.
