About Charlotte
I am an internationally experienced educator and community development professional with a background spanning Canada, Malawi, Jordan, Kenya, China, Cyprus, and Zimbabwe. I hold a BA in International Development Studies from the University of Winnipeg and an MSc in Management and Implementation of Development Projects from the University of Manchester. I am also TEFL-certified with 120 hours of training.
Over the course of my career I have worked in post-secondary education in Alberta, designed and led academic programmes, supported adult learners from diverse backgrounds, and delivered training and capacity building workshops with NGOs and community organisations across Africa and the Middle East. I am a first-generation university graduate, which gives me a grounded understanding of what it takes to navigate educational systems without a roadmap, and genuine empathy for students who are figuring things out on their own.
I take punctuality, preparation, and follow-through seriously. Every student I work with gets my full attention and a session that is tailored to what they actually need, not a generic lesson plan.

My lessons are practical and student-led. We start by identifying exactly where you need support and build from there, whether that is structuring an essay, preparing for a university entrance interview, polishing a CV, or developing confidence speaking in front of others. I adapt to your pace and learning style rather than following a rigid script.
I am a TEFL-certified educator with college-level teaching experience in Canada, where I designed and delivered a certificate programme at Lakeland College in Alberta. I have taught in an international school setting and have facilitated capacity building workshops with community organisations and NGOs across urban and rural settings in some African countries. This range of experience means I am comfortable working with people at very different starting points and adapting how I explain things until something lands.
Sessions typically run 60 minutes, though I am flexible depending on what you need. My lessons suit secondary school students, university applicants, working professionals, and adult learners. Whether you are preparing for something specific or building general skills, we will work towards something concrete and achievable every session.
