We will look the history, background and themes of specific texts and how this context applies to the piece of writing. Learn the important historical context behind texts like Death of a Salesman,The Crucible, Macbeth, and other crucial school texts. Learn about the wider historical implications, issues and values that affect texts and the way they are written.
We will then apply this to any text the Student is studying to help them understand the importance of context when writing about literature from a certain place or time period. Students will learn to feel confident expressing opinions on context and applying this to essays about literature. A fun but informative lesson which combines history and English to give a wide picture of texts and their place in the world.
