I hold a BA in Greek Philology and a MA in Classics. I have been tutoring for the past six years students of all key stages. I am dedicated and passionate about teaching and the success of my senior year students in the National Exams (equivalent to GCSE) certifies my skills and my professionalism.
I focus on syllabus and exam technique. My usual method is to set an agreed question from your current syllabus, write it up and send it me for review, assessment, annotation and additional ideas. We meet up, online preferably, and go over the answer together working through point by point. You'll get a copy of my annotations, notes and ideas to take away.
I have been teaching Latin and Classical Civilization to students at preparatory and secondary schools since 2012. During this time, I have also tutored students for Common Entrance Levels 1, 2 and 3, as well as scholarship examinations for Eton, Harrow, Tonbridge, Wellington, Winchester College, Westminster, Bradfield and Sherborne.
I offer two approaches: tailored tuition for students with particular goals (GCSE's, A-Levels, and University studies) and a course on Latin and Ancient Greek. I combine the teaching of grammar in context with interactive activties and resources for vocabulary learning.
My teaching methods will be very easy and consist of tools that you need in the world as well as the exams. I will make the teaching fun and simple. Therefore, the things you never thought were simple, now seem simple.
Classics is a largely misunderstood subject. It's no longer a widely spoken language, but the affect that the Latin and (Ancient) Greek languages have had on European and North African culture is important in contemporary society.
I have studied both part and full time - so I know what it is like to want to get the best out of your time. I came to studying after working for a while - so I know what is it like to not feel confident about academic activities. I have a great love of history and the Classics which goes back to primary school.
My teaching methods tend to be revolve around discussion and interaction with the student. Emphasis is placed on increasing the student's confidence in analysing, discussing, and spotting key points themselves through structured prompts.
I base my lessons on what my students feel they need to work on, as well as the syllabus topics they need to know. I aim to go through the specification in order to teach exam techniques. I am most familiar with the AQA exam board.
I have successfully taught Greek and Latin language, literature and civilization at University College London, King’s College London (KCL), and at a secondary school. At KCL (2017-18), I am teaching ancient Greek to undergraduates using Reading Greek.
Hi! I am an 18 year old sixth form student offering classes in Latin Language and Literature for GCSE or earlier. I am currently taking Latin at A-Level (predicted an A*) and currently hold an offer for Oxford to read classics. I also take further maths and physics and am happy to tutor these at GCSE level.
Hi there! I'm in my first year of univeristy studying English and my passion for the language and literature has led me here. I teach students from a primary to A level education and I believe a relaxed environment where we can learn about each other as well as having structured lessons is imperative to having a successful learning experience.
Hi, I'm Shay and I am an A* A-Level student who offers GCSE and A-Level lessons in English Literature. Before our first session, I would require knowledge of your exam board and the texts you will be studying so I can create my resources accordingly.
As a student myself, I understand the difficulties faced by students in the academic field. While I was at school, I often found the the subjects I struggled with the most were also the subjects which I enjoyed the least. In my teaching therefore, I think it is important to keep the student interested and to find interactive and energetic ways of teaching.
I have a very relaxed yet focused teaching method, the key to successfully teaching a child is to make the lesson As engaging for them as possible, I base my lessons around my pupils style of learning and cater to their needs in order for us both to get the most out of every lesson.
I am happy to give lessons to all levels from complete beginners to more advanced students. I believe that the lessons should be led by you - I am here to help you in whichever areas you need help on and to answer any questions you have. I know that Ancient Greek and Latin can be very confusing and so I will guide you through each step slowly.
I believe that the best way to improve your Latin and Greek quickly is through thorough knowledge of the grammar and syntax of the languages. I would look to promote this with testing as well as helping a student to spot the patterns which make wrote learning easier.
My students range from primary, secondary (GCSE, A-Level/International Baccalaureate) through to degree level. My lessons can cover grammar, vocabulary, translation technique, essay-writing, literary analysis. I work together with my student to set common learning goals regularly, whether that's to improve their grades, or to work on specific skills such as essay-writing.
My teaching method involves clear criteria and goals for the lesson which can be monitored through discussion and questions. I can draw the student's attention to different critical and contextual details in order to broaden their analytical approach to literature.
My methodology revolves around prioritising the rules of syntax over everything else. I know from experience that this can be quite boring, so I try to make it as enjoyable as possible. I understand that learning a language takes time, so it will be a long time before a student has a good vocabulary and is comfortable with the grammar.
My tutoring approach is to provide students with a forum in which they can ask the questions and discuss the issues they are not able to confront at school – whether due to a lack of confidence or lack of time to address these problems.
My lessons consist of a review of previous work (whether this is homework I have set, or school work sent in by new students) and making sure the students understand their weaknesses before we progress. I will then, depending on the student's level, move onto a new topic, which we will discuss in full before looking at content.
I have 6 years of experience teaching, covering a range of year groups, including individual and group work. I offer tuition in a range of subjects and make sure activities are tailored to what each child needs. My approach to individual tuition is clear and easy to understand and it makes learning an exciting and pleasurable experience.
Set out to write a best-selling book James Patterson, the author of 19 consecutive No. 1 New York Times bestsellers, reveals his tricks of the trade for the very first time.
I am hard working and patient, i will never give up on some one until i fell they have reached their full potential. I am kind and will never be harsh and always make sure the student feels comfortable and are not afraid to get an answer wrong and i will give my everything to ensure that the student gets to where they want to be. i work well with all ages from primary to secondary.
As a tutor, I will make sure that I don't just help my students obtain good grades/improve academically, but will also help them grow to enjoy the subject, by making sure that I bring fun to my lessons. I believe that is extremely essential that students aren't only just taught new skills and are provided with academic success, but that they also ENJOY the subject.
I have 4 years experience tutoring students aged 7-15 predominantly in Latin, Mathematics and English. This has involved school entrance tests at age 11+ and 13+, as well as working towards GCSE qualifications. Having studied at Oxford, I believe in academic excellence and that hard work can achieve anything.
Practice makes perfect, placing an importance on really engaging with the material and not simply just going through the motions, which I find achieve the best results. I received A* grades in all subjects at GCSE and A*, A,A at A-level and so will be very well placed to teach at that level and achieve the desired results.
I shape each lesson differently according to what tutees are struggling with and how they learn best, and try to make it enjoyable for tutees as well as useful! I know rote learning of endings can be dull, so I'm always developing new and exciting methods for learning vocab and grammar and developing translation skills.
I have worked as a tutor and teacher in several countries. My students get strong results as I tailor bespoke lessons to each individual. I believe in a hands-on approach to develop student understanding of the subject matter and believe that learning should be enjoyable - and can be for everyone - once we have found the right strategies and techniques that work for us.
