About Louis
I am a professional touring and studio musician with over 10 years of experience performing across the UK and Europe. As a versatile multi-instrumentalist (bass, vocals, trombone, and acoustic guitar), career highlights include playing the main stages at Victorious Festival and All Points East, supporting bass legend and personal hero Sting in Czechia, and performing at the iconic O2 Academy Brixton.
Classically trained with an A* in A-Level Music and Grade 7 Distinction in Trombone, I later explored my passion for popular recorded music by studying Music Production at the Abbey Road Institute, based at the world-famous Abbey Road Studios. Today, I balance teaching with active work as a session player, singer-songwriter, and record producer.
As a young student I was hugely inspired to pursue music by my secondary school music teachers and my uncle who taught me bass guitar. Because of them I have always had a real passion for teaching and I pride myself in helping students explore their own goals and interests.
My bass playing and lessons are deeply inspired by icons like Paul McCartney (The Beatles), Sting (The Police), Bruce Foxton (The Jam), Nick O'Malley (Arctic Monkeys), and John Entwistle (The Who), helping students build solid technique, great tone, and real-world musicality.

Tailored to your personal goals, my bass lessons blend playing by ear with reading notation, tabs, and charts. Together, we explore the instrument by analysing and transposing bass lines by your favourite artist and bands. We'll study the importance of the bass guitar in a band dynamic and master different playing techniques, harmony, scales, and the history of the bass guitar in popular music.
With several years' experience leading and mentoring student rock bands (ages 10–18), I welcome learners of any age. Whether you're a complete beginner starting from scratch or an experienced player looking to take your playing to a more professional level, lessons are tailored to your goals.
In every one-hour lesson we cover warm-ups, effective practice routines and different playing styles and techniques alongside the core mechanics of the bass and maintenance tips. You will also learn how to create your own unique sound and style by using different amplifiers and effects pedals. Don't worry if you don't own equipment yet, I am happy to provide a bass guitar and amplifier for you to use during our sessions.
Whether you want to focus on custom skill development, build confidence for performing live or prepare for formal grades, every session is built around you.
