About Cole
As a graduate of MacEwan University, I understand the struggles of students. School can be hard, overwhelming, and it always feels like you're being left behind through no fault of your own. But I believe that everyone is capable of getting an A, even in subjects they just don't like. That's why I always put the student first and tailor my lessons to fit their needs. Learning is not just about getting the right answers on a test; it's a process of growth.

In a subject like English, it is essential to teach the big picture. My approach is to focus less on the individual texts and more on reading & writing as skills. Rather than quizzing students on trivia, I want them to be able to do the following confidently and independently:
- Determine if a thesis statement is strong or weak
- Describe a text on multiple levels (i.e., describing a story in terms of characters vs. in terms of themes, etc.)
- Evaluate how context changes the way a text is interpreted
- Distinguish between their personal reaction to a text and how the text was most likely intended to be understood
And many more skills, depending on the student's needs.
