About Amelia
Hi! I'm an English Literature student at Durham University offering tutoring lessons for students working towards GCSE English. Having received an A in English and Philosophy and A* in History A-Level as well as Grade 9 in English, I have a strong academic background in essay-based subjects.
I have an extensive knowledge of the texts currently studied at GCSE as well as experience and insight into effective exam focused essay techniques to help students achieve top marks in their essays.
English can certainly feel daunting, particularly when it comes to long essays and exams, so I aim to create a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and developing their own interpretations of texts.
Having worked as a gap assistant teacher, I've really enjoyed working with young people and helping them to build confidence in their abilities.

I offer friendly, supportive English tutoring lessons for students up to GCSE level. As a current English Literature student at Durham University, with an A in English, A* in History and A in Philosophy at A-level, alongside a 9 in GCSE English, I have a strong academic background in English and essay-based subjects. Having worked as a gap assistant teacher I have experience supporting students aged 5-18 with their learning.
My lessons are tailored to each student’s needs, whether they want to build confidence, improve essay writing, develop their understanding of texts, or prepare for exams. I aim to make lessons engaging and encouraging, and want my lessons to be a supportive space where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.
Lessons are typically 1 hour and take place online. I am confident supporting students working towards GCSEs as well as younger students still building their foundations and confidence in the subject.
