About Margaret
As a dedicated and experienced individual, I am passionate about fostering positive learning experiences for students. With a background in Civil Engineering and Management, I bring a wealth of knowledge to my tutoring role. My friendly, enthusiastic, compassionate, and patient nature allows me to create a supportive environment, and my previous experience in Special Educational Needs (SEN) roles showcases my commitment to inclusive education. My teaching technique entails familiarising myself with my students and building a positive teaching relationship through proactive listening and positive communication to emphasise that they are being heard and that I am here to support and facilitate their learning. I believe using an adaptive teaching approach, such as conducting short interactive quizzes at the end of each lesson, allows me to gauge my students' level of understanding and progress and consequently identify and allocate more time to the areas they find most challenging and require more support. Moreover, my teaching technique also includes using explicit, clear instruction by following a logical sequence of instructions, providing good examples, and giving clear, concise feedback.
The typical length of my lessons depends on the needs and progress of the student however can range between 30 minutes to 1.5 hours.
I am a Civil Engineer with a bachelors and masters in Civil Engineering and Management with experience as a tutor to younger family members.
My lessons cater to students at Key Stages 1 & 2, focusing on English writing and reading as well as proofreading at all levels.
