About Celia
I am a biology & English major-minor student at York University. I am currently a literacy and math tutor at the elementary level but I am expanding my services to high school and university students. I have a 3.85/4.0 GPA and I have taken classes in Shakespeare, poetry, British literature, Canadian literature, short stories, detective fiction, contemporary American gothic, etc. One of my essays was nominated for the Avie Bennett Prize in Canadian Literature at York University last year. The nomination committee called it "elegant and sophisticated". I am also on the shortlist for the Ontario Remembrance Scholarship for excellence in academics and commitment to community service and volunteerism. Next year I will be attending teacher's college at the Ontario University Institute of Technology in Oshawa.

My aim as a tutor is to work with you to build a piece of writing from conception to finish. I will brainstorm ideas with you, identify themes, find arguments, and help you build a thesis. I can help with improving the flow of your essay's ideas by reworking structure. As well, I am an excellent editor. My goal is not only to help you write a good essay but to give you the tools to repeat the process in the future. That means I will help you distinguish between summary and analysis, a common pitfall many students fall into when writing an essay. I will help you find the "why?" or "so what?" of your essay, a quality that is so hard for students to include in their thesis but an element nonetheless that can take an essay from a B to an A.
