About Sylvana
I am currently at Imperial College London studying Masters degree for Translational Neuroscience. I have a Bachelors degree in Neuroscience with Psychology. I was also a part-time Chemistry teacher at Croydon Metropolitan College last year. With my in-depth knowledge of cellular and molecular biology I believe I'll be able to teach biology in a way that's easy to understand.

I personally prefer to work on the topics my pupil finds the hardest, once those topics are explained in detail and fully understood, I would then move onto the other easier topics on the syllabus. I find this method most effective because it eliminates the fear from the subject from the onset, there's nothing worse than running away from the topics that you feel are your weakest.
I would like to think of myself as a patient and friendly tutor. More than anything I want to see an improvement in your confidence with the subject and teach the course in a way that you actually find interesting. Plus having gone through multiple examinations, I have gathered a lot of exam tips and tricks. I know exactly what the exam boards want to see from their students, especially in science. Its important to demonstrate you grasp the larger concepts and then you must add the necessary details and key words they are looking for. I am currently in my third year, so I do believe I have the adequate knowledge.I was once head girl at my secondary school and so I often had to mentor and tutor students in the years below and give them guidance. I like to think I am patient and understanding and I enjoy teaching especially when it is subjects that I am interested in. I think the most important part of being a tutor is making the course engaging and also sharing exam tips and tricks.
