Every student is different and that is key for me. Some students understand the fundamentals but when a question is presented to them they struggle due to the information. So I try to make sure the students are able to weed out the necessary information to complete the questions.
Then there are some students who are overwhelmed by their subjects and it's always a case of breaking it down into blocks and slowly building so that the student is able to cope with it and become confident.
I have been tutoring for over five years. My experience began when I was asked to help out the undergraduate engineering students with their tutorials whilst I was at the University of Cambridge. This really put me in the deep end but I was really happy with how I had done but then hearing positive feedback from the students and the lecturers themselves. Therefore I started tutoring. I then began tutoring at a supplementary school teaching KS3 and GCSE Maths and Science and from there some of the students went on to do A-level Maths and Physics at some of the top universities such as Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College and other well established universities.

Degree alongside full-time work at Rolls-Royce plc. to work with academic researchers to understand aerodynamic interactions within the modern aero-gas turbine engine. Involved wind tunnel testing to understand the interaction between the intake scoop on fan rotor performance and a test to measure heat transfer from ribs to replicate the internal cooling ports of a turbine blade using liquid crystals and thermography. Rig testing of sub-systems such as stall of a compressor stage. Acoustic testing of a combustion chamber. Using and calibrating different probes such as a three-hole probe, five-hole probe, Hot-wire anemometers, cobra probes, heat filament sensors, strain gauges and fibre optic pressure sensors. Post-processing of data and producing graphical plots using MATLAB. Technical report writing for mini-projects. Parallel computing in Fortran to optimise calculation run times for various complicated designs for solving in CFD.
LOUGHBOROUGH UNIVERSITY, AERONAUTICAL ENGINEERING – MENG

Final year modules include Computational Fluid Dynamics and Experimental Fluid Dynamics which included planning experiments in a wind tunnel and correlation studies between experiment and CFD. Use of MATLAB for data post-processing from CFD and testing. Use of LabView for dataflow programming to modify the logic of test rigs, calibration of five-hole pressure probes and hot-wire anemometers.
Final year dissertation on computational aerodynamic study of compressor diffusers and their affect on combustion in an aero-gas turbine engine. 3D printing of different diffusers for aero-performance testing.
Final year group project on swarm drones which received regional media attention from BBC and ITV and was awarded best group project. My role was the team leader and mechanical designer of the prototype.
Successful year in industry between my third and fourth year at Rolls-Royce plc as an intern in Compressor Design.
