About Emma
As a PhD candidate I will be teaching undergraduate students at UCL later this year. As such I am currently receiving Postgraduate Teacher Training.
Throughout the last five years I have tutored privately in a number of different countries. I started teaching French, English and Latin in The Netherlands when I was attending secondary school there. After completing this, I moved to France to study French for a year and simultaneously taught English to a number of primary school children. Subsequently, during summer breaks from my undergraduate, I taught English to university students from all over Spain at the Fundación General Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo and, concurrently, I provided private English classes for two children (aged four and seven) in Madrid. Moreover, I have previously been a mentor at the UCL Academy, a secondary school based in Swiss Cottage, London, and I taught German on an after school programme for primary school children. Finally, I set up and ran an outreach programme for UCL's Debating Society, whereby free debating workshops were given in comprehensive schools throughout London.
Testimonial from a family in Madrid whose children (aged 4 and 7) I taught over the summer of 2016:
'Absolutely recommended. 10/10. She looked after our 7 and 4 year old children all of last summer, speaking exclusively in English. My children adore her and as of today we continue the contact. Educated, happy, affectionate and culturally trained. Completely bilingual since she studies in England. Formal, honest and responsible. Absolutely recommended.'

I am an experienced tutor and PhD candidate at University College London, as well as a graduate from the University of Oxford. Teaching is a true passion of mine and, apart from providing private tuition, I am also preparing to teach undergraduate students at UCL later this year.
Previous experience has taught me that each child learns in a unique way and, as such, I make a point of tailoring each lesson to suit his or her individual needs. To aid this, I would like to meet with the student before we start the tutoring sessions to get a sense of what he or she responds best to in terms of teaching material.

I've known Emma for about 3 years now. In that time, she has always been a hardworking individual and been successful in her studies. She has an excellent level in English and I am confident in her ability to teach in an efficient and interesting way.
I have found Emma to be very dedicated and very good with kids. I think she makes an excellent tutor.
