About Richard
With over 25 years of experience teaching mathematics at the middle school, high school, and college levels, I bring a depth of knowledge, practical expertise, and a passion for helping students succeed. I hold a B.A. in Mathematics with Secondary Teacher Certification and an M.A. in Educational Leadership from St. Mary’s University, and I am certified to teach Texas Secondary Math (6–12).
I have taught a wide range of courses, including Algebra I & II, PreCalculus, AP Calculus, Probability and Statistics, and College Algebra, preparing students not only to excel in the classroom but also to develop critical problem-solving skills for life. As an Adjunct Professor at St. Mary’s University, I guided pre-service elementary teachers in MT3305 and MT3306, equipping the next generation of educators with the tools to teach math effectively.
As Dean of Academics at Holy Cross of San Antonio, I have overseen curriculum development, academic programming, teacher growth and evaluations, and student success initiatives for nearly two decades. My approach emphasizes brain-based learning, personalized instruction, and strategies for at-risk students, ensuring that every student achieves mastery and confidence in mathematics.
Whether preparing students for standardized tests, college-level courses, or foundational math skills, I combine rigorous academic standards with a patient, individualized teaching style that makes math approachable and engaging.
