About Rafael
Hello! I graduated with a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering and a minor in biomedical engineering in 2021. Since then I have been working in the field. I have experience teaching classes and tutoring and I love helping others succeed. I specialize in STEM subjects such as mathematics and physics, but feel free to ask me about any subject and I’ll help in any way I can. I’m excited to work with you to achieve your academic goals!

I believe that guided practice is an effective method for learning new skills and understanding difficult concepts. Having someone to ask questions to and bounce ideas off of significantly improves the speed at which new concepts are learned as well as the confidence students feel when implementing what they learn. In my sessions, I look to not only answer questions students bring, but teach them how to ask the right questions to get the most out of the sessions and their education. A typical 40 minute session will revolve around one specific topic. I will arrange beforehand with the student which topic they would like more practice with and get a sample of problems for us to work through. These problems are comprised of problems brought by the student as well as other problems I bring myself. We will review the major parts of the topic and then begin with a working session the student will lead. During the working session the student will have the opportunity to ask questions, and I will ask questions about their thought process throughout the problem to establish an effective method the student can follow to be successful. My lessons are mostly directed at high school students, but feel free to reach out and I will review your coursework and determine if I am able to help you achieve your goals.
