About Philip
I have been teaching for over ten years. I have taken four music courses at Penn State and specialize in note reading, theory, proper fingering, and teaching songs that students want to learn to play. I perform with my band which has won the "Best Of Award" five years in a row. In the past i have played on stage with The Coaster, & Tommy Conwell. My band has opened for many national acts such as The Fixx, Kixx, Otis Day and the Knights and Badfinger. One of the best things about teaching is the joy of sharing your knowledge and passing it on to others.
After a car accident returning from a gig sidelined me for a few months i decided that teaching what I knew would keep my chops up and pass on things i knew to aspiring players.
I have played in bands professionally for over forty years. I have taken four music classes on theory and composing while I attended Penn State.

About the lesson

I introduce them to the instument explaining all of it's parts. Then we learn the name of each string and how the fretboard is layed out. From there we proceed to note reading, proper fingering and an introduction to beginnig open chords. I use several instruction books such as Hal Leonard Guitar method and Beginning Guitar by Nick Vicchio.
I take students from age 5 and up to date my oldest student was 82 years old.
Be willing to set time aside each day for practice. Diligence is important.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
They should consider the commitment that is required when playing an instrument. Learning to play is not an instant gratification endevor.

Details
I charge twenty-five dollars per half hour lesson. Students must sigh up by the month. Payment is due at the fist lesson of each month.
