About Mary
I am a writer and tutor based in Los Angeles, with a graduate degree and over four years of tutoring experience. I have a BA in Mathematics and Media Studies from Pomona College and an MFA in Dramatic Writing from the University of Southern California. In addition to my tutoring experience, I have worked as a teaching assistant at the undergraduate level, which taught me not only how to work college-level students, but also how to better prepare my high school students for college.

My approach to teaching varies with each student. I like to begin by getting to know the student's goals and challenges, which allows me to customize a plan for tutoring and independent study. As we work together, I build an understanding of that student's learning style, and adapt our approach to tutoring.
I prefer asking questions and providing guidance to telling a student the answers. My goal for each student is for them to be able to tackle their chosen subject independently and with confidence.
