About Samantha
I'm Samantha Brenner, I certified high school science teacher in the state of Illinois. I have taught high school biology, chemistry, physics, anatomy, and environmental science! I specialize in teaching and tutoring biology tutoring and hold a Biology degree from Drake University and a master's degree in education from Dominican University. I was formally a CPS high school science teacher and postsecondary coach before I left for my current job as a postsecondary coach for high school seniors and their teachers.
I'm passionate about helping students work towards an understanding of science content and breaking it down into small digestible pieces. I tutor with the philosophy that the skills you build while you learn science will help you in all other subject areas as you learn to problem solve, reason, and write descriptively. My tutoring style is unique because I set goals with my students and work to create a timeline to meet them.
Through teaching, coaching, and tutoring, I have met students from all over the city of Chicago. I've learned about their neighborhoods, unique cultures, and inspiring family backgrounds. Connection and building relationships is one of the most rewarding parts of my work!

When I start working with a new student, I'll have both the student and their parent fill out an intake form. This form helps me get to know the student, their goals, concerns, and hopes. From there we will create a list of goals together and a timeline for our work together and those goals.
