MSc in Biology (Integrative-Biosciences) from University of Oxford with more than 7 years of tutoring experience offering my first lesson absolutely free. I give the tutoring according to student needs and capabilities. I give students the work plan to reach A grades. I tutor Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Maths from KS2 upto A-levels.
My teaching methods are based on a wider variety of pedagogic practices to reinforce learning. This includes lectures, discussion and active participation, and encouraging spaced repetition and review to improve retention. I deliver my sessions through very informal lectures that start from the beginning.
I recommend working with past papers as it improves exam solving technique and understanding of the content. I can teach GCSE students and A level students. I like to make others think and analyse the information, rather than just tell them everything, as it allows others to rely more on themselves and become more confident in their abilities.
My teaching method is interactive where learning through open dialogue, answering questions and thus gaining your own confidence to be able to reteach the lesson to someone else is key.
Trying to utilise my knowledge and teaching resources to explain the topic in detail, in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
I am currently working as a specialist extended scope musculoskeletal physiotherapist in the NHS. Trained to an Masters in Science (MSc) level, working towards Musculoskeletal association of chartered physiotherapists) MACP membership.
My teaching method is very simple relying on the student to guide where the lessons go and the pace that they go at. I have several methods of teaching which allows me to work with all different types of people.
I think the best way to learn, is through conversation. Especially with a heavy content subject like biology, the best way that I revised and memorised my materials during my degree was through talking to my friends about it. Despite the vast amount of memorising required, there is beauty in biology.
I prefer to create practice questions to determine which areas the student is good at and which they're not too confident in. Once I can pinpoint the areas they're struggling with, I go in-depth trying to explain the how and the why, to make sure the student can understand what's going on and not just memorize it. After that, how well they understood it I can test with more practice questions.
I have taught fellow peers within my degree, using visual cues. However, I have also taught young adults through their GCSE's, with songs and acronyms as they were acoustic learners. My teaching method depends on the individual I am teaching. I understand that everyone learns in different ways, and I suit my methodology to this.
I am an experienced online and face-to-face tutor with a teacher qualification (PGCE) and a PhD in chemical biology. I am passionate about science and about enthusing young people, even those who find science difficult to begin with. - Which subject(s) do you teach? I tutor Biology, Chemistry, Physics. I also teach Maths and German. - Tell me about your qualifications.
I currently teach KS2 secondary school children, with whom I like to take a practical approach to teaching. I feel that getting children to do things - or even think about things they do - can help lessons stick. With undergraduate students, I feel that breaking down complex concepts into stories and smaller chunks really works well.
Differentiated techniques are used to teach the students such as highlighted notes, mindmaps, mnemonics and the Roman Room technique. The Roman Room technique is an ancient and effective way of remembering unstructured information where the relationship of items of information to other items of information is not important. It functions by imagining a room (e.g. your sitting room or bedroom).
My focus is on learner centered teaching, where the emphasis is on enabling the student to understand the theory and integrate/ apply it practically. The focus/ emphasis is on building the student's confidence, analytical skills and knowledge base to ensure success.
We learn theory at school but often the teachers don’t explain what this is relevant to in the real world. But this relevance is exactly why we study and educate our children, because we want them to be fully prepared for the real world.
I wish to give simple explanations of biological topics relating to GCSE and A level Biology and intend to inspire not bore. I will take reccommendations on what students want in lessons and easy to improve their learning and understanding.
I teach using colours and more discussion based over writing a lot, as this is how I learn. Each lesson will be a small introduction to the subject, a small worksheet with questions which you can attempt, then we discuss or can go through them together.
I am a Second year A level student who studies Biology, Chemistry and Maths. A years experience in tutuoring and also with triple A’s in first year of college. Also, I have a grade 8 in GCSE maths and a triple A* in triple science at GCSE’s.
I prefer to give one-on-one lessons as I believe the student will gain more from the lesson as they will have my undivided attention. I am happy to help up to year 10 for school subjects as well as anyone doing a BTEC veterinary course. I will adapt my lessons to suit the individual as everyone has a different way of learning and interacting.
I involve the learner through engaging with their interests and at a level and pace that they are comfortable with. I believe that every learner is an individual and my learning styles will be responsive to each student to ensure that they are actively involved throughout.
I try to adapt my teaching to what best suits the student. I prefer to start from the basics and ensure a strong foundation to then build upon. I have taught a variety of age groups from GCSEs and A-Levels to 4th Year University students.
My approach to teaching is the build on theoretical principals and support them with practical exercises. I will personalise the lessons based on your interests and goals.
I prefer to give small group tutorials, small lectures and apply the knowledge obtained in class to real-life clinical situations. With my previous clinical experience as a pre-hospital medic and primary care physician, I can apply the pathophysiology of various diseases in various conditions.
My teaching methods can vary according to what the student wants. In general however I like to start lessons with a recap on previous teachings/homework to test recall. Then I like to teach vital syllabus points before setting questions at different levels of expertise to fully understand where they need more focus on.
I tend to tailor the class to the individual, working out what areas need improvement, as in my own personal experience people can be put off areas they find difficult and will avoid them. By helping the student break down the problem into sizeable chunks it will make it seem more accessible. I will also assist with revision techniques for upcoming exams.
My methodology is made of two parts. Firstly, I usually focus on consolidating the concepts based on the course materials (and other resources) so that there is a clear understanding of the subject in general. Secondly, I will provide help in practicing questions and exam papers as well as developing a strategy to optimize the results.
Differentiation is not solely about using different leveled worksheets and support materials, but about truly building relationships with students, understanding their strengths, and providing lessons to support those strengths.
I have a very strong command over Immunology, Molecular biology, Biomedical sciences, Haematology, Cancer studies, Microbiology, Biochemistry and Genetics. I have been teaching to the A Levels and also University level too. Powerpoint presentation is the most appropriate to teach but I also believe in writing notes for students while teaching.
I base my classes on the British national curriculum and my science knowledge on UK A-Levels, a BSc and a pending MBBS (medicine and surgery degree). The theory aspects of my medical degree were conducted using a mix of problem based learning and traditional lectures.
My teaching method is topic based, particularly with the topics you struggle most with, and i will not move onto further topics until a good level of the previous topic is understood. I use unique and funny ways to help students remember things which helps in exam situations, I will base the teaching method to cater for different learning styles such as auditory or visual.
