About Joy
My name is Dr. Joy McDaniel. I have a love and passion for science and making it exciting for students. My goal is to help students understand science in the simplest terms as possible so that key fundamentals are grasped. I have over ten years of experience with tutoring students in biology and chemistry. I received my Bachelor's of Science in Biology from Spelman College. While at Spelman, I served as a tutor for molecular biology and general chemistry. I have a masters in Biological Science and a doctorate in Biotechnology, Science, and Engineering from The University of Alabama in Huntsville. During my graduate studies I tutored high school biology and geometry. I also served as an academic mentor to over ten undergraduate biology students. Each of these students have pursued careers as physicians and scientists. Also, I have taught general biology and anatomy at the collegiate level at Drake State Technical College.
I am a scientist who builds mouse models of breast cancer for a living. While my goal is to help make cancer history, I am equally as passionate about sparking joy and interest in science amongst students by helping them to develop an understanding and love for science.
