I like to first learn about the student, as their personality can have a big impact on how they learn. I want to approach each student in the most effective manner possible. I usually let the student guide the sessions, taking me through the areas in which they are struggling the most. If a study guide or review sheet is provided, I will work through those materials with them as well. I want to personalize the learning to the student, so I may supply supplementary materials like review sheets of my own making or useful videos if helpful.
My experience is mostly with high schoolers, in normal, Honors-level, and Advanced Placement biology. I have worked with fellow college students as well.
