It begins with an assessment of the student's needs through discussion of their strengths, weaknesses, practice habits and their personal learning objectives. Then we discuss how we will get there based on their lifestyle and learning style.
From grade 2-adult. All types and ages and on 15 different instruments.
Talk to them to get a sense of their proficiency of communication skills. Nothing is more important. Additionally, does the teacher make learning fun? That's huge as well.

Am I willing to put in the necessary time? Will I follow my teacher's instructions? (Sounds simple but some are surprised at how many don't do this)
