About John
ABOUT JOHN DURNING
I began my Kenpo Karate and Kickboxing training in 1986 under Dennis Nackord and former World Champion Kickboxer “Golden Boy” Roy Kleckner.
I am a 7th degree Black Belt in American Kenpo Karate with over 33 years of training and teaching. I also hold a 6th degree Black Belt in American Karate/Kickboxing under 8-time world champion Joe Lewis and has been a member of the Worldwide Kenpo Karate Association (WKKA) National Demo Team.
I have trained with Dennis Nackord, Frank Trejo, Huk Planas, and Joe Palanzo in American Kenpo, Professional boxing Trainer Marty Feldman. F.A.S.T. Defense and Model Mugging creator Bill Kipp.
In addition to karate, boxing, and kickboxing, I have also trained in Jiu-jitsu, Tai Chi Chuan, Philippino Arnis, Burmese Bando, and Russian Sambo.
I was nominated in 1998 for The Ed Parker Spirit of Kenpo Award. I have owned and operated Karate Schools on the Main Line since 1993. It has been my honor and privilege to have been awarded Best of the Main Line three times by Main Line Life magazine.
I became a Certified FAST Defense Instructor and Armored Assailant in 2001, and has conducted over 250 FAST Defense Personal Safety courses for ages 5 to senior citizens over the past 18 years.
Over my career, I have helped thousands of students achieve their goals, and have promoted several hundred black belts.
I have been featured on NBC10, Fox29, CN8 and conducted seminars and assemblies at many area Elementary Schools, Middle Schools, High Schools, and Colleges.
I love helping people achieve their goals. Coaching a student from beginner to novice to expert, watching their skill and confidence grow, is what it is all about!
In my life, I have sought out the best people in their respective disciplines to study under. I love to pass on that knowledge to others.
