About Serena
Hello! I’m an engineer by trade and a math instruction by enthusiasm. I’ve been tutoring for about 6 years and spent 3 years teaching one-on-one and in a traditional classroom mainly to students with learning differences. I love that tutoring affords me the opportunity to provide individualized instruction that caters directly to each students personal needs. I aim to help students grow in confidence of their own problem solving skills and to see math as more than a set of “how to do”s. My favorite subjects are Algebra 2 and Precalculus but I enjoy any high school math from Pre-Algebra to Calculus.
Two years of teaching AP calculus, precalculus and Algebra 2 in the classroom. I have experience with one-on-one tutoring middle school students in Pre-Algebra and Algebra I and high school students in Algebra, Geometry, Integrated Math, and Finite Math.

I first do an interview where I ask students about their learning envionrment, relationship with their math teacher, and the strategies they use for studying math. We then walk through math work (homework if they have brought some or a practice problems from their subject that I have prepared.)
