About Zachary
Professional and comprehensive (and hopefully at least a little bit fun), I strive to make each lesson informative and enjoyable. Pairing a wealth of tutoring experience with a passion for teaching and test prep, my goal during each lesson is for your student to feel both challenged and supported. We don't grow without at least a little bit of struggle, but a little nudge and a bit of guidance can go a long way to helping us work through something we initially found impossible.
This service is meant to be far more than just a weekly lesson; it includes a detailed and personalized curriculum, a weekly study plan tailored to each student’s individual needs, and thorough session reviews/progress reports to ensure you're kept up to date on everything we're seeing and doing. Don't just take my word for it: the average student who works with me goes up at least one grade level and sees improvement between 5-7 points on the ACT and 120-170 points on the SAT.
Having worked with private test prep and tutoring companies for years that charged in excess of $150 or $200 per hour, I know what it takes to provide top-tier service. But by working directly with families like yours, I'm able to provide that exact same tutoring experience at a fraction of the price. If you’re interested in learning more, please don’t hesitate to reach out to schedule a free consultation or a discounted trial session! I'm looking forward to getting started together!
While most tutors celebrate the "lightbulb" moments, there's nothing I love more than a student who gradually builds up the consistent behaviors necessary for long-term success. Like when a student learns to double-check his work after every problem, or when another student learns to manage her nerves and press forward despite being uncertain of the exact process. A single concept may not have much lasting value, but cultivated habits and behaviors can shape our future.
I was raised by educators. And I don't mean that in an overly-sentimental “teachers were instrumental to my development” way. I mean that I was literally raised by educators: my mother taught middle school Language Arts and my father was a middle school guidance counselor. They also happened to work at the very same school that I attended. Although having my mother share embarrassing stories about me to my classmates while I went through hormonal ups and downs was a living nightmare, having parents who taught wasn’t without its benefits. I was exposed to several tenets of good education before I could even talk: how to digest and convey complex information, the importance of responsible preparation, and the necessity of engaging with the material.
So it shouldn't come as a surprise that I eventually found my way back to education, leading test prep courses over five years ago.
Graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology (with minors in Neuroscience and Zoology), I've been been a full-time professional tutor for over 5 years. In that time, I've helped over 100 students improve their scores and reach their testing goals.
Having scored in the 99th percentile of the ACT and GRE, I understand how to navigate standardized tests and relish the opportunity to mine every point from the exam.

Most pairings start with an introductory phone call, which allows us to introduce ourselves and ensure we're aligned with our expectations and goals. It also serves as a great opportunity for you to get any questions you may have answered.
From there, an introductory lesson (billed at half-price) is recommended to ensure it's a great fit. This also allows me to get a stronger sense of your student's existing skillset and build an education plan that maximizes their growth!
I have worked with students of diverse socioeconomic and educational backgrounds, and I have an established history of helping students with various learning differences (e.g. - ADD, dyslexia, dysgraphia, auditory processing disorders, etc.) navigate academics and standardized testing. As an educator, it's always my mission to craft a learning plan that is based on each student's specific needs and goals.
I've also worked with students across a variety of ages and subjects: be it helping a middle-school student bolster his English skills or prepping a college graduate for the GRE, I'm happy to help!
It's important to find a tutor/educator who is both enjoyable to work with and is able to challenge you to invest in your future and improve. Standardized tests, despite what some tutoring companies may sell you, are not solved merely by implementing some simple tips or tricks. They require rigorous preparation and content mastery, something only achieved through thoughtful and consistent practice. Having someone you trust to help you navigate that process is crucial to driving long-term success.

Zachary has been AWESOME! He helped our daughter score in the 99th percentile of her ACT, and she raved about how helpful he was and how much she enjoyed working with him! He was always so thorough and provided detailed information about our daughter's progress and performance and he was always willing to walk us through whatever questions we had. I wish I could give him 10 stars!
Thank you so much! Thank you for your hard work and all of your efforts to get my son prepared for the test! He seems very happy and was extremely prepared. Thank you dearly
Zach has been awesome through this process. I can't imagine how we would have navigated this without his help. We will always be grateful for all of his caring and his help. I am giving out his number to friends who are looking for tutors!
