About Mirabella
As a current high school senior with 6+ years of professional and volunteer tutoring experience, I teach not theory but experience. I draw on the strategies I developed for myself so I can teach others to achieve high grades and scores across a variety of academic subjects and standardized exams. My method as a tutor is to create confidence by thoroughly covering content and continuously practicing strategies THAT WORK! If you have a goal, I can help you build a roadmap to get there.
I began as a volunteer tutor during middle school and quickly realized that many students around me found my lessons helpful. I began paid math tutoring in 2020, Spanish tutoring in 2021, and test prep tutoring in 2022.
Depending on the subject you want help in, I have significant experience in the following advanced coursework and standardized exams.
Test Preparation: I scored a 36 on the ACT, and my PSAT score earned me National Merit Semifinalist status. Additionally, I have taken twelve AP exams and never received a score below 3 (but four 5’s and six 4’s!). In the past year, I have begun offering formal tutoring in the strategies that earned me these scores—with great success!
Mathematics: I have completed all math subjects through Calculus II, but I focus on pre-algebra through pre-calculus because I truly enjoy working with these topics and age groups! Math has always been the primary focus of my tutoring, with over 20 students in the past few years.
Spanish: ¿Quieres aprender una lengua nueva? As a continuous student of Spanish myself, I can help you learn the skills you need in the way that works best for you! In the past six years that I have studied Spanish, I have discovered the content, resources, and strategies that can develop your conversational fluency. My focus is teaching the basic knowledge and skills that transfer into real-world applications.

I typically spend the first lesson discussing with my student and/or their parents how tutoring will work, so everyone is in the same page. This changes from person to person because everyone’s learning methods and life circumstances are different!
We can talk about goals for tutoring, the student’s current issues, what teaching style works best for them, potential homework assignments, study resources, scheduling, and more. This is really up to my clients!
I have worked with students from a variety of backgrounds. My students are low performing, high performing, fast learners, slow learners, middle schoolers, high schoolers, academically advanced, academically behind, perfectly focused, easily distracted, and everything in between.
The only kind of student I have never taught is a ‘dumb’ one: there is no such thing! Success is the result of proper practice and hard work. I will help you with both!
My advice (for any subject area) is to find a tutor who knows both what to teach and how to teach it. This is a combination of personal experience, teaching experience, and getting along well with the student.
Sometimes, a teacher simply doesn’t teach in a way that is accessible to the student—and that’s fine. If we have a session (or two, or three) and you decide that I am not the tutor for you, I completely understand! I would be more than happy to help you look for a new tutor who will suit your needs.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I think it’s important to note that this question asks what STUDENTS should think about. It’s easy for parents to put a child into tutoring, hoping that the right teacher will magically fix their son or daughter’s grades. What some people forget is that no change will occur unless the student not only applies themself, but truly wants to improve.
That said, I think students should come up with their own goals for tutoring, along with a list of strong and weak areas in their subject. This will help me make sessions focused and worth your time! Additionally, if the student can share what has worked well for them in the past, this will help me teach them more effectively.

I like to be upfront about my prices, but don’t let this scare you away! I am more than happy to discuss a price that works for you.
Test Preparation: $30 per hour
Mathematics: $20 per hour
Spanish: $25 per hour
If you are wondering why I charge a different amount for each service, it is because some subjects are more difficult to teach or require more time outside of lessons to compile resources. I want to make sure that my students have access to everything they need for success!
