About Jack
My satisfaction comes when concepts begin to click for students. I love to help students simplify their understanding of math and build connections between the concepts and real world application. My students walk away better critical thinkers with the ability to be continuous learners and growers.
I have enjoyed working with student from the time I was a high schooler coaching and tutoring. Building relationships and helping students be successful has been the driving force in my 16 year career as an educator. It has driven me to finish my doctorate I. Education and leadership.
I started volunteering as an aid in special needs classes. I decided I wanted to be a teacher and started as a full-time aide.
I have a B.A. in education, a post-grad certification in Special Needs, a Masters in Education, and a Doctorate in Education.

The first task is getting the student comfortable with me and relaxed. This means talking about things other than "school" at first and getting to know them. Next, I use prior work and if needed conduct an assessment to determine the students needs. Based of the assessment instruction, modeling and practice will follow. I encourage work outside of my sessions but don't require it, as I want students coming to my sessions excited to learn more.
Kindergarten through High School. Special Needs students to Gifted students.
Make sure you are comfortable with the teacher. Comfort enables a relaxation that improves engagement and learning.
