About Thomas
- I've been tutoring math since 1997 and teaching math since 2003.
- I graduated with a B.S. in Mathematics from Temple U. in 2003.
- I've taught at both Temple University and DeVry University.
- First tutoring lesson (up to an hour) is free!
I enjoy making a positive difference in the lives of students and helping them get a handle on a subject many of them find intimidating or stressful.
I started tutoring back in high school on a volunteer basis: I tutored math after school at the grade school adjacent to my high school. I worked at Temple U.'s MSRC (Math and Science Resource Center) during my time as a student at Temple and also worked as a classroom assistant for a variety of math classes up to and including Pre-Calculus. I began teaching the semester after I graduated.
I graduated from Temple University in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. I've taught math at both Temple University and DeVry University since 2003. I tutored math at Temple U. from 1999 through 2003 and have tutored privately off and on since 2000. (I also tutored grade school math when I was a high school student.)

My typical process is to try to determine what the student needs help with the most and having her work on some related problems so I can best see where and how she needs improvement.
All sorts. The youngest student I've tutored was 10 and the oldest was 63.
My advice: pick me! Seriously though, I don't charge for the first session (up to an hour) so you can decide whether or not I'm worth it.

Details
It depends on the level of math, but for private tutoring, I typically charge $40 an hour, and for group tutoring (2 or more students), I typically charge $30 an hour. The first tutoring session (up to an hour) is free so you can determine whether or not my services are suitable to your needs. Any time I need to spend reviewing the material to brush up on it would be subtracted (I need to do this from time to time if I haven't tutored the specific subject in a while).
