As a student, I often found that my biggest barriers to learning were the speed with which my teachers taught as well as a lack of clarification on both the texts that were being analysed and the way we were expected to analyse them. Because of this, I prefer to focus on breaking down the process of learning into smaller segments that are easier to internalise and understand, as well as demystifying the exercise using language that young people can better comprehend. This allows the student's knowledge to be supplemented, in that details that may have been misunderstood or skipped over at school can be explained to them, but also empowers them to direct their own learning and form their own understanding with the guidance of an experienced tutor to keep them on track, making for greater confidence when placed in an exam setting without assistance.
