About Bronwyn
I'm a university educator, writer, and doctoral researcher with nearly ten years of experience teaching Arts at Western Sydney University.
I hold a Master of Creative Writing from Macquarie University, a Graduate Certificate in Higher Education from Curtin University, and a Bachelor of Arts (Honors). I'm currently undertaking a Doctorate of Creative Arts at Western Sydney University, where my research explores literature, storytelling, and the ways we understand and represent human experience.
Throughout my teaching career, I've taught subjects including Introduction to Literary Studies, Texts and Communication, and Cultural Perspectives. My work has involved designing curriculum and learning activities, delivering lectures and tutorials, developing assessments, and providing detailed, constructive feedback to students from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds.
I've also worked as a Student Success Coach, helping university students navigate the challenges of tertiary study, develop effective learning strategies, and build confidence in their academic abilities.
Alongside my academic career, I'm a writer and the creator of The Motherwhelm, a podcast and literary journal dedicated to sharing stories and amplifying women's voices.
What I love most about teaching is helping students realize that they are capable of more than they initially believe. I've worked with students who feel overwhelmed by academic expectations, struggle to put their ideas into words, or have lost confidence in their writing. There's something incredibly rewarding about helping someone find clarity, develop their skills, and begin to trust their own voice.
My teaching style is approachable, encouraging, and grounded in years of practical classroom experience. I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and exploring ideas without judgment.
Whether you're preparing for university, working towards an academic goal, or developing your creative writing, I'd love to help you become a more confident and independent writer.

I believe that becoming a confident writer is about more than learning the rules of grammar or following an essay structure. It's about developing the skills to think critically, communicate clearly, and express your own ideas with confidence.
With nearly ten years of experience teaching Arts at Western Sydney University, I understand that every student approaches learning differently. My tutoring is supportive, collaborative, and tailored to your individual needs, whether you're navigating university for the first time, preparing for an important assessment, or developing your creative writing.
What can we work on together?
- Academic writing: Essay planning, structure, argument development, academic expression, and referencing.
- English literature: Close reading, textual analysis, literary techniques, and developing thoughtful interpretations of texts.
- Critical thinking: Evaluating sources, engaging with research, and building convincing arguments.
- Creative writing: Fiction, memoir, personal essays, storytelling techniques, and developing your unique writing voice.
- University study skills: Understanding assessment expectations, academic conventions, research skills, and responding to feedback.
My teaching approach
I take a practical, student-centered approach. Rather than simply telling you what to change, I'll help you understand why something works, how to improve it, and how to apply those skills independently.
A typical lesson might involve discussing your goals, working through a particular writing challenge, examining examples together, and developing strategies you can put into practice straight away. I use constructive feedback, guided discussion, and practical exercises to help you make meaningful progress.
Lesson format
Lessons are delivered online, typically in 60-minute sessions, with the option of ongoing weekly tutoring or individual sessions focused on a particular learning goal.
Who are my lessons for?
I work with senior secondary students, university students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and adult learners or emerging writers looking to develop their skills.
Whether you're feeling overwhelmed by an assignment, returning to study after time away or simply wanting to become a stronger writer, my aim is to create a welcoming space where you feel comfortable asking questions, exploring ideas, and building confidence.
