Visual artworks reveal a lot about their author and the context in which they have been created. They are a visual materialisation of human beings’ direct experience of the world.
Thus, like a private detective I explore artworks from different cultures and era by carefully LOOKING at them and organically investigating the context of their creation taking a multidisciplinary approach - historical, aesthetic, philosophical and scientific.
This is a journey that I love sharing with other people :)
Education wise, I have a second Master in art-science and studied undergraduate modules of Western, African and Asian art history. But more importantly it is by looking at artworks and working with them that I have learnt to see.
I curated exhibitions in the UK and Singapore and was a popular guide at Singapore National Art Gallery and Singapore Tyler Print Institute for 2.5 years. My groups were composed of people from all walks of life and nationalities, complete novices to experts in art/art history.
On a more general note, understanding my fellow human beings in depth, from their cultural, social and economical environments to their core, has been the focus of my personal and professional life, moving from economic development and project management, through art-science studies and curating, to recruitment.
After living in Singapore for 3 years, I am back in the UK and look forward to putting my transversal experience and skills to service by sharing my passion for visual art through teaching/coaching.
