About Carlos

I'm a film composer and Berklee College of Music graduate, currently working in Los Angeles on a variety of projects across film, TV, and video games. My background blends classical training with a deep understanding of modern production techniques, and I’ve written everything from emotional piano cues to full orchestral action scores, including work for trailers and network television. My teaching style is hands-on, practical, and tailored to your goals. Whether you're just opening your DAW for the first time or you're an experienced musician aiming to write music that gets placed, I bring not just technical knowledge, but real-world insight into what it takes to succeed as a media composer today.

About the lesson

These one-on-one lessons cover the full journey of composing and producing music—from sketching your first musical ideas to delivering polished, professional-grade tracks ready for sync or scoring projects.

We'll cover:

- Idea & Sketching: Developing themes, moods, and spotting
scenes

- Mock-ups: Creating realistic demos using virtual instruments
and sample libraries

- Orchestration & Arrangement: For live players or hybrid scores

- Mixing & Mastering: Taking your production to an industry-
ready level

- DAW Workflow & Tools: Tailored to your setup (Cubase, Logic,
etc.)

Lessons can be fully customized based on your experience and interests. Beginners will learn the foundations of music production and scoring, while more experienced musicians can focus on writing music suitable for film, TV shows, trailers, and commercials.

For those interested, we can also dive into the business side of the industry:

- How to register with a PRO (like ASCAP/BMI)

- Understanding royalties and cue sheets

- How to get your music placed

- Networking and finding work as a composer

- Drafting composer contracts and deliverables

My goal is to not just teach you how to write great music—but to give you the tools, techniques, and insight to succeed as a modern media composer.
