About Ruth
I enjoy helping children feel confident in their abilities and making learning feel enjoyable rather than like extra schoolwork. I’m particularly interested in reading, writing and creative storytelling, and I love finding fun ways to help children develop their vocabulary, express their ideas and become more confident writers.
I’m happy to support children with primary-level English, reading, writing, creative writing, homework and general learning, as well as providing extra support with maths at primary level.
I’m approachable and encouraging, and I adapt my sessions to suit each child’s age, personality and needs. My aim is to create a relaxed environment where children feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and having a go.

I offer friendly, engaging support for children aged 5–10 with reading, writing, English, creative writing and primary school homework.
My approach is relaxed and encouraging, helping children build confidence while making learning feel enjoyable rather than like extra schoolwork. Sessions can be tailored to what your child needs, whether that’s practising reading, improving writing, working on spelling and vocabulary, completing homework or developing their imagination through creative writing.
I particularly enjoy helping children create their own stories. We might invent characters, build imaginary worlds, explore story ideas, use pictures and prompts to develop writing, or create a story from beginning to end. I believe creative activities can be a great way to help children become more confident with language and expressing their ideas.
I can also provide general primary-level support in English and maths, adapting sessions to the child’s age, ability and schoolwork.
I’m friendly, patient and comfortable adapting activities to different personalities and confidence levels.
My aim is to create a positive environment where children feel supported, encouraged and proud of what they can achieve.
