About Kathryn
I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Duke University with a Bachelor's of Science in Neuroscience, with minors in Biology and Global Health. Having grown up to see education with great importance, I'm passionate about providing students at all skill levels with the support they need to be successful and reach the next level in their learning. My experience as a special education and dual language teacher has equipped me with the skills to provide that support. Outside of work, I love to hike, run, cook, and bake!

As a special education teacher and a dual language math teacher, I am able to address the specific learning needs of students at all levels.
As a graduate with a degree in Neuroscience, I am also prepared to use those skills to support college students in challenging STEM courses.
My teaching method centers around the specific content and learning need of each student. After identifying the strategies that work best for a student, we'll use those to address the underlying concepts as well as specific skills and strategies. My teaching will involve a combination of co-exploration, activating background knowledge, direct instruction, and practice.
A typical lesson plan will include (1) an activity to activate prior knowledge, (2) direct instruction in the skill being taught, (3) practice together, and (4) practice with immediate feedback.
My experience as a teacher for diverse and exceptional learners sets me apart, as I am equipped to meet the learning needs of all students at all skill levels.
Lessons in elementary and middle school math are designed for students in grades 3-8, while lessons in chemistry and organic chemistry would be for students in high school or college.
