About Gabriela

Hi, I’m Gabriela! I’m a Harvard graduate, writer, and experienced mentor who loves helping students discover their interests, strengthen their voices, and pursue ambitious goals with confidence.

At Harvard, I studied History & Literature, where I developed a deep appreciation for storytelling, research, and the power of strong writing. My academic interests took me beyond the classroom, including research in Latin America and the completion of my undergraduate thesis. My background in the humanities continues to shape the way I work with students today: I encourage curiosity, thoughtful reflection, and authentic self-expression.

Over the past several years, I’ve worked with students of different ages on college admissions, academic and creative writing, research, and independent passion projects. I’ve also helped develop educational programming with the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, creating opportunities for students interested in learning more about law and the justice system.

What I enjoy most about mentorship is getting to know each student as an individual. I love learning what excites them, helping them recognize strengths they may not yet see in themselves, and watching an idea develop into something they’re genuinely proud of.

Whether a student is writing their college essay, developing a research project, exploring a new academic interest, or simply trying to figure out what comes next, I aim to be the kind of mentor who both supports and challenges them.

My approach to mentorship is highly personalized because I believe every student has different strengths, interests, and goals. Rather than following a one-size-fits-all formula, I take the time to get to know each student and develop a plan that meets them where they are.

For students navigating the college admissions process, our work may include developing a balanced college list, creating an application timeline, brainstorming and revising the personal statement, strengthening supplemental essays, refining the activities section, and preparing for interviews. My background in writing and the humanities especially shapes my approach to essays. I help students identify the stories they genuinely want to tell and develop them into thoughtful, compelling pieces while ensuring that the student's voice remains entirely their own.

I also work with students outside of the admissions process on academic and creative writing, research, and independent passion projects. Whether a student wants to launch a community initiative, explore an academic interest, develop a creative project, or simply become a more confident writer, I help them turn broad ideas into concrete goals and guide them through the process of bringing those ideas to life.

Sessions are collaborative and conversational, but always purposeful. Students leave each meeting with clear next steps, and I aim to create an environment where they feel comfortable asking questions, exploring ideas, making mistakes, and challenging themselves.

Above all, my goal is not simply to complete an application or assignment. I want students to leave our work together more confident in their own voice, more capable of pursuing their ideas independently, and excited about what they can accomplish.
