About Ekaterina
Hi! I'm Katya, a mathematician and educator who loves helping students actually understand the material.
I have a B.A. in Mathematics (with honors) from Princeton and an M.S. in Applied Mathematics from Harvard, and I was an NSF Graduate Research Fellow. My research has taken me through Harvard, MIT, and Apple, and at 18 I co-discovered an exoplanet. I've taught mathematical modeling as a Teaching Assistant at Harvard, honors real analysis & honors linear algebra at Princeton, and topology at Yale Young Global Scholars.
What I bring to every lesson is the "why" behind the answer. Math and physics aren't collections of formulas to memorize. They're ways of thinking, and once you see the logic, the formulas stop feeling random. I'm also fluent in English and Russian, so I can teach in either language.
What I teach:
Math: arithmetic, pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, precalculus, AP Calculus (AB/BC), linear algebra, and university-level math
Physics: school-level and university physics
SAT & ACT: math, with strategy for pacing and avoiding common traps
English: reading comprehension, writing, essays, and grammar
Russian: for beginners through advanced learners, including heritage speakers
Other: university placement tests and college application support
