About Lilly
Hey! I’m Lilly from Augsburg, Germany, and am currently working and living in Sydney, Australia. My obtained offer from the University College London (UCL) means I will be studying and working in the UK starting in September 2023.
Personally, I’ve always hated the English subject up until year 7, when a new teacher introduced me to a new approach to language, and ultimately changed my perspective on the subject completely. I have always considered English a disorganized and uncontrollable, even unpredictable, subject at times but have realized just how strategic and simplified one’s approach to English literature and essays, or simpler writing practice can be.
Having taught students and adults between the ages of six and 38, I am confident in my understanding of the various approaches to different levels of comprehension when it comes to teaching and tutoring. I really want to share my experience to aid students in improving their English skills to find some love for the subject again (in a far shorter time span than I have needed) and make it to the top of the class!

Identify areas of difficulty for students to strengthen understanding, before utilizing exercises and practice to build a stronger practical approach to English language and literature. Lessons entail a great range, from simpler levels of English understanding and practice to advanced literary analyses (poems and literature) and essay writing. Having struggled with English literature and comparative essays in the past and myself to one of the top in the class, I understand many areas of difficulty within the subject. My teachings, that have proven to be the most useful in the past, include simpler and more organised strategies to dissect questions and texts strategically, for students to fully comprehend and Analyse questions independently and confidently.
Length of lessons are flexible and normally range from one to two hours a session (open for negotiation).
I have taught students in Germany (during my 12 year time at an international school) prior to my IGCSEs, before having taught young children (4-15 years) as also adults (18-38) in Vietnam. English has become my second mother-tongue, and having lived in England for two years has given me written, as definitely also oral confidence in the English language.
Thus, students in the academic years 2-11 would benefit most from my lessons, alongside older graduates on simpler levels (aged 19+).
