About Hailey
I have my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and Psychology which means that I was able to work in classrooms as a teacher's assistant for 4 years. Working with students one-on-one is my favorite thing as I get to know them so well. But doing school work I know it can become long and boring so I try to make it as fun as possible. Having games or activities through my tutoring session helps with this. I want to work with the child and parents to figure out what they need but also what they want to get out of this.

At the first meeting, I love to sit down and get to know my students. Asking them questions not related to school will help me gain an understanding and relationship with them. I will ask them what they think they succeed and also struggle with the most. I use an I do, We do, You do method. That is I show the child first how to solve the problem or whatever we may be working on. Then we will do one together so they feel confident. Lastly, they will do it on their own. I am there for support but also to help them gain confidence and knowledge in what they are doing and learning. This model I have used from K-12 and it has worked well in my experience with my past students. I also do give breaks if needed and at the end, I give time for them to choose to do something fun but still related to that subject. This helps us get what we need done but also have fun during the session.
