About Hyacinth

I have professional experience of working with children for over twenty (20) years. During that period I have worked with children of different ages, those with mixed abilities many of whom have emerged from various social and economical backgrounds both at the primary and secondary levels within inner city schools in the United Kingdom and overseas. I have a sound knowledge of the United Kingdom education system, having taught in British schools for over twelve (12) years, satisfied the DCSF standards relating to Qualified Teachers Status (QTS), completed my induction year and I am cognisant with the significance of each child in the education system.
I am a highly motivated teacher who worked very hard to gain results and helped students to reach their potential in preparation for future careers. Having developed those unique teaching experiences, I find myself irresistibly drawn to a career in teaching because it has allowed me to see important human values in it. By devising original teaching plans, careful selection of teaching materials, creative manipulation of classroom activities, appropriate choice effective teaching strategies, I can see how my ideas and innovative talents are transmuted into desired results. On the other hand, teaching is the most human-oriented profession for me because the teach-student interactivity is one of the most direct form of human communication. In helping my students improve their knowledge, I also undergo constant maturation in terms of my own teaching concepts and methodology. This reciprocity is what I value most and wish to study further as an important issue in the science of education.
I have done several training on Child Protection the latest of which was done in September 2017 at Enfield Grammar, Aylward Academy among other schools and I am up to date with the most recent Child Protection policies.
At my current job I teach key stage 5/6 Health and Social Care and Science to key stage 3.
During my tenure at Westminster Academy I took on the role of Curriculum Coordinator for Y8 for eight months (01/2008 – 08/2008) and the head of Religious Education for one year (09/2011 - 08/2012). While serving in this role I have worked with other teachers to plan the curriculum; planned and organised the work of TAs; planned and held meetings, attended parents’ evening, staff meetings and INSET days; been on school visits to assist students in teaching reading to primary school students in the Westminster Borough, observed and helped run after school clubs for homework and intervention; and contributed to the classroom environments through displays.
I was also the coordinator for the staff welfare where I planned and catered for the whole staff end of term meals, birthdays, weddings, funerals among other things.
It is my goal to combine my range of experience with my ability to be a compassionate, enthusiastic, intelligent teacher who will make a positive contribution to your school. I really look forward to working in a job that is so important, being privileged to be such a vital part of so many young lives and making a real difference.
