About Hallam
With more than 11 years of experience as a guitar player and gigging musician, in addition to two bachelors in music from Berklee College of Music, Hallam provides guitar lessons for beginning and intermediate guitar players on both electric and acoustic guitar, songwriting lessons, and production lessons. Lessons are tailored to student needs, focusing on what makes you passionate about music.

Hallam wants to tailor lessons to your specific needs and desires in order to maximize your passion for music. Hallam's lessons are for beginning or intermediate guitar players.. or anyone with a strong passion for music that wants to learn about the synthesis of guitar with songwriting, production, and performance. With specialization in fingerstyle, rock, and jazz guitar, a typical lesson could look just like the plan below (adapted to students' specific musical interests):
BEGINNER LESSON PLAN (60 min)
00:00 - 10:00: Warm-up (for example: chromatic finger exercise, or chord shapes)
10:00 - 35:00: Technique study (for example: working on improvisation techniques over a jazz standard, working on fingerstyle guitar, learning a guitar solo)
35:00 - 60:00 : Tune study (jam on some of your favorite tunes you’ve been working on!)
INTERMEDIATE LESSON PLAN (60 min)
00:00 - 10:00: Warm-up (for example: inversions of melodic minor scale with passing tones, arpeggios up and down the fretboard)
10:00 - 35:00 Technique study (for example: learning and analyzing advanced jazz guitar solos, developing advanced fingerstyle techniques, working on chord solos, transcribing and learning crucial music from various genres)
35:00 - 60:00: Tune study (jamming on songs of your choice in addition to jamming the repertoire developed in-lesson)
Holding degrees in both Songwriting and Contemporary Writing and Production, Hallam also offers courses in songwriting -- including lessons on rhyme, structure, scansion, and creative techniques -- and production.
