About Elena
Hello everyone, I'm Elena Montalvo, and I'm currently on the cusp of completing my undergraduate degree in electrical engineering at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. My choice of major stems from a profound desire to play a part in driving positive change in our world. I firmly believe that engineering is like a superpower that can be harnessed to make a real impact.
My journey in electrical engineering is comparable to my hobbies in dancing, yoga, and golf – it involves a talent for mastering new knowledge and skills, constantly pushing the boundaries of what's possible in this ever-evolving field.
One of my core values is fostering close relations with colleagues, as I believe that a supportive and caring work environment is the foundation of successful teamwork. With a natural desire for mastering new knowledge and skills, I'm continually pushing the boundaries of what's possible.
I see myself in a role much like a company driver – someone who's driven by ambition and energy, pushing our team forward during crucial moments. Simultaneously, I bring an explorer's spirit to the table, where curiosity and effective communication play a key role. As an innovator, I'm always eager to apply my creative approach to problem-solving, paving the way for groundbreaking solutions.
I envision a future in electrical engineering where we can harness our collective superpowers to connect, innovate, and electrify the world while fostering a strong, supportive community and embracing the thrill of discovery. Together, we can truly light up the future.

Objective:
Students will understand the principles of projectile motion.
Students will be able to apply mathematical equations to solve problems related to projectile motion.
Materials:
Whiteboard and markers
Projector or whiteboard for multimedia presentation
Calculators
Worksheets with problems related to projectile motion
Introduction (15 minutes):
Begin with a brief review of basic mathematical concepts such as vectors and trigonometry.
Introduce the concept of projectile motion and its relevance in physics.
Discuss real-life examples of projectile motion, such as the motion of a thrown ball, a launched rocket, or a kicked soccer ball.
Direct Instruction (30 minutes):
Use visual aids, diagrams, and animations to explain the key principles of projectile motion.
Derive and discuss the equations for horizontal and vertical motion separately.
Emphasize the importance of breaking down the motion into horizontal and vertical components.
Guided Practice (20 minutes):
Solve a few simple projectile motion problems together as a class.
Break down each step of the problem-solving process, emphasizing how to identify and use the appropriate equations.
Provide opportunities for students to ask questions and seek clarification.
Independent Practice (25 minutes):
Distribute worksheets with a variety of projectile motion problems.
Encourage students to work independently or in pairs to solve the problems.
Circulate the room to provide support and guidance as needed.
Review and Closure (10 minutes):
Review the key concepts and equations covered in the lesson.
Discuss any common challenges or misconceptions that students may have encountered.
Assign additional practice problems for homework if necessary.
Assessment:
Formative assessment during the guided practice and independent practice sessions.
Review and grade the completed worksheets.
Conclude the lesson with a brief quiz or exit ticket to gauge individual understanding.
Differentiation:
Provide additional support for struggling students through extra practice or additional explanations.
Challenge advanced students with more complex projectile motion problems.
This lesson plan can be adjusted based on the specific needs and abilities of the students. It's important to be flexible and adapt the plan as necessary during the lesson.
