About Elaina
I graduated high school in 2022, and was able to complete my first year of university at the University of Alberta. With a minor in creative writing, I like to express my creativity through my writing, whether in poetry, song writing, narrative or in short story format. I like to read and write in my spare time, and I am always excited to help and give writing or reading advice to students, friends and family members.

My approach is simple. I am aware of the work that students do during school hours—the last thing I want is to create an environment that feels like a typical English class. Students that are struggling in English (K-12) are in need of a tutor that can work with the student to fulfill their specific and individual needs. I like to take the time to get to know and understand the student that I will be working with, whether it is by learning about their interests, their plans or where they are in regards to their English studies. I also like to plan ahead. Students will likely receive major exams in the months to follow—if they are informed of what is to be expected on the exam, I will do everything in my power to assure that the student is prepared for the specific material on the exam. Reading comprehension is another skill I like to enforce with my students as a practice or exercise.
