My name is Carmen. I have 10 years of experience in Special Education. I have psychology BSc from University of York, PGCE specialising in SEN, Post Grad Diploma in Autism and Master in SEN. Currently working as a senior leader in an outstanding special school.

The first lesson will be an initial assessment on student’s areas of strengths and needs. Subsequent lessons will be tailored to support individual student’s progression in identified area of needs. Student’s areas of needs to be identified from a combination of assessment, EHCP, recommendations from professionals such as EP/ SALT/ OT, parental’s wish and student’s interest. This can include interventions for communication and interactions, play skills, social skills, sensory needs, functional skills and etc. Lessons will be fun, engaging and interactive. In addition, I am always available to give parents and carers additional support and advice. The overarching aims of these lessons are to empower the learner to become as independent as they can be and to meet their full potential.
My personal and professional belief is that all behaviour is communication. No behaviour is challenging, they are only challenging to the care givers because we have not yet figured out the why!
