About Adrian Hon Wai
As a dedicated tutor, I provide private instruction in clarinet, saxophone, and music theory. With extensive experience since 2004, I have built a strong reputation for coaching ensembles and guiding students in their preparation for examinations, auditions, and competitions. My students have successfully competed and won awards at prestigious music festivals, including Ealing, Richmond, Sutton, Kingston, North London, and Watford. Notably, one of my students was honored as the Berkshire Young Musician of the Year 2020 and also won the WBP Competition in the Intermediate category.
As a performer, I had the honor of serving as the clarinetist at the Young Virtuosi Festival in 2012, performing in France. I regularly present solo and chamber recitals across the UK and was previously a clarinetist with the Asian Youth Orchestra during its 2007 tour of major cities across Asia. Between 2007 and 2010, I worked as a freelance musician with renowned orchestras in Hong Kong and Macau, including the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Hong Kong Sinfonietta, and Macau Orchestra.
I received my clarinet training under esteemed mentors such as Janet Hilton and Timothy Lines at the Royal College of Music, London, as well as Andrew Simon, John Schertle, and Michael Campbell at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. Additionally, I have had the privilege of taking private lessons and participating in masterclasses with distinguished clarinetists, including Andrew Marriner, Michael Collins, Michael Whight, Steven Barta, Romain Guyot, and Michel Lethiec.

Adrian has been working with my daughter for the last year. My daughter took pleasure in practicing in between classes. Adrian made Zoe enjoy Music theory. Adrian has a good contact with kids. I am also grateful for his honesty on assessing work/performance and his thoroughness.
We know Adrian through a friend who commented him as a caring music teacher and an experienced music player. It was definitely true after the first saxophone class taught by Adrian to my son. Adrian taught my son some music playing skills that my son wasn’t aware of before. My son enjoys every single class with Adrian. I highly recommend Adrian to any levels of music learners without any doubt.
Adrian has tutored me for more than a year . He is patient and taught me to play more musically with different methods. He is a good teacher for advanced grades and pieces.
Adrian is one of the most professional and trust worthy teacher we have ever met during our daughters’ learning journey.
Professional and always understanding and showing an unusual flexibility always to accomodate students needs.
Our daughter studied with Adrian music theory and just passed her exam with great marks.
I couldn’t recommend him enough.
Adrian is an excellent tutor. Thorough, reliable, and both encouraging and demanding. The learning is systematic and there is a clear programme of homework. I asked my son what he thought and he said “outstanding”.
Excellent teacher for clarinet
My eldest son has got clarinet lessons for more than three years and this very thoughtful teacher has inspired my son to understand music. His lesson is focused on not only technical matter, but also emphasizing good expression and developing tutee's own intonation. I am totally satisfied with his lessons. My son finished abrsm grade 8 exam with distinction and was awarded Eton Music Scholar for 2015 entry. My younger son also started to have a lesson a year ago.Adrian is an excellent tutor. He is professional, courteous and patient. He teaches both of my daughters (Clarinet and Recorder) and they look forward to their lesson every week. I can highly recommend him as a tutor.
