About Janis
I am a dedicated English tutor who focuses on helping students build both skill and confidence in a supportive, structured way. My teaching approach is rooted in clarity, patience, and adapting lessons to each learner’s individual needs rather than a one-size-fits-all method.
I am also fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin, with working proficiency in French. This multilingual background allows me to better support ESL learners by bridging language gaps, clarifying difficult concepts, and understanding common challenges students face when learning English as an additional language.
I’ve worked with a diverse range of students across different learning stages and backgrounds, which has strengthened my ability to explain complex ideas in simple, accessible ways. I pay close attention to how each student learns best and adjust my methods to make sure concepts truly stick - not just for tests, but for long-term understanding.
I value professionalism and consistency in my tutoring practice. Alongside this, I have global teaching experience across Canada and Asia, which has shaped my ability to adapt to different learning styles, cultural backgrounds, and academic expectations.
I’ve worked with a wide range of learners, including ESL students building foundational English skills, as well as students with developmental disabilities who benefit from patient, structured, and supportive teaching approaches. This experience has taught me how to make lessons accessible, engaging, and tailored to each individual student’s needs.
