About Mencia
I am a third-year International Relations student at King's College London currently based in London. I did the International Baccalaureate in high school focusing on History and other social sciences. Within my degree, I will be specialising on the Middle East and Nothern Africa (MENA) area, including a focus on its geopolitics and current world affairs issues in the area. Throughout my school years and my degree, I've accumulated extensive experience in Model United Nations conferences (both participating and organizing), allowing me to gain invaluable insight to the workings on an international institution and its mechanisms, furthering my understandings in international political affairs.

My teaching method would be described as adaptable and flexible to the student. As these topics have a multitude of aspects to them and they are often said to be of common knowledge; rather than designing a teaching template to use with all students, I prefer to consult with a student to first ask the key aspects they would like to cover, and then design a lesson plan accordingly. The fact that these topics require historical background, political theory contextualization, and other subject areas for its clear understanding I structure my lesson plans in a "building blocks" manner. What this means, is that upon finding out the learning objective of a student I will create a plan which will lay the groundwork (historical background of an issue, basics of geopolitics, relevant political theory, etc) and will then use the newly acquired knowledge to interpret current events.
