About Betty
I began tutoring, informally, when I was first in college to become a teacher. As a teacher, I became involved in the district's Hospital/Homebound Program for students who could not attend school due to health or related problems. Throughout the years, I tutored during the summers and for friends whose children needed assistance in school. As a math teacher, I often held tutoring sessions after school. As a teacher of over 31 years, I suppose you could say that I've been tutoring for more than half of my life.

Teaching has been my passion and profession for over 31 years. I hold a Florida Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education and Middle Grades Math. After teaching in K-12 public schools for 15 years, I taught teachers and school administrators at the university level. My philosophy is that every student is different and learns in his/her own special way. The teacher/tutor has the responsibility to determine how best the student learns and to meet those needs with a variety of strategies and methods at the ready. Teaching is not just about the content. Working with your student, in a positive and safe environment, with knowledge of the content at hand, will ensure the greatest success.
